The curriculum at Swan Hill College follows AusVELS, which incorporates the Australian Curriculum. AusVELS is the Foundation to Year 10 curriculum that provides a single, coherent and comprehensive set of prescribed content and common achievement standards, which schools use to plan student learning programs, assess student progress and report to parents.
Our curriculum program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive general education in the early years of secondary school followed by the opportunity to begin to individualise programs once students reach Year 9.
The program in Years 7 to 10 provides a sound foundation for studies in the senior years. It allows student flexibility in subject breadth, together with opportunities for extension and challenge.
In Year 9 and 10 students can begin to choose subjects tailored to their interest areas. In Year 10 students also have the option of enrolling in a VCE or VET subject.
Year 11 and 12 students have access to a wide range of VCE/VET or VCAL subjects.
Our focus on achievement and success, complemented by the comprehensive support provided to students, increases the breadth of post school options to which our students have access.
