The Swan Hill College Library is at the heart of the school providing support to the learning and recreational needs of students, staff and the wider college community. Our library is a very inviting open plan area that is enjoyed by students and staff alike.
The library recently underwent renovations offering a fresh and airy space with stylish furniture and shelving.
We have a large selection of fiction and nonfiction books, on line newspapers, magazines, resource search computers, huge Promethean interactive screens, desktop computers, four televisions and an amazing new space – The Tech Hub. The Tech Hub offers state of the art technology including 3D printers, Virtual Reality headsets, green screen recording and a sound room.
Not only can you borrow books, but also laptops, cameras, data projectors, dvds and many other resources. Staff and students are able to print, photocopy, laminate and book bind. There is a dedicated year 12 study zone with modern booth style seating, comfy lounge chairs for quiet reading and 3 learning spaces.
Many students make use of the library before school and during lunchtimes, either poring over books and magazines, tapping away at the computers, doing homework, playing UNO, chess and giant connect 4 or discovering amazing virtual worlds on the virtual reality headsets. It offers a refuge to those who want an alternative to the playground.
Helpful library staff are available to assist students and staff with any of their research needs. The library is the hub of information, research and narrative. Most of all, it is the place where relationships are formed, recommendations are made and a reading culture is created.
